Mommy tip #360

Re-apply sunblock OFTEN!!! We seem to be learning that the hard way so far... Either we arent doing it enough, our stuff is expired, or that spray on stuff really isnt as good as it seems. (whats that old saying? "if it seems to good to be true, it probably is")

Happy 1st Birthday Allie!!

Happy 1st birthday love! You are such a blessing in our lives and I can not imagine our family without you in it! I cant believe one year has come and gone so quickly...it seems like just yesterday I was holding a 5 lb little bundle of pink baldness, and now here you are almost walking, talking and defiantly asserting your opinion in our household! You are such a strong willed, fiery little thing and I love that! I also love that you are by far, the worlds snugly'est baby! I love you and cant wait to meet the little girl, young woman, mother you will grow into. But, for now, I love you just they way you are! Happy 1st Allison!

Where I was a year ago!

Allison's birthday is tomorrow and I got all reminiscent about what I was doing those hours before I had her! I had a Dr appointment that morning around 9'ish. But, I didn't sleep well the night before so I gave up trying to sleep and woke up at around 4 a.m. thinking I would just nap with Hunter. If only I were to know...! So, I get to the Dr and the ultrasound tech is doing her thing, measuring, and what not and tells me she is only measuring at a 5 for my amniotic fluid! A ten is what you want to measure at...anything less and your "low". I thought "wow! that's pretty low"! Just then my Dr walks in and takes over and says "yep, I only measure 5 too, so, guess what? I am sending you to the hospital and your having a baby"! What???!!! A million things were running through my mind (one of them being that I was really hungry, we will come back to that though!) So, he called my regular OB/GYN (the specialist was sending me to the hospital) and I called Jeff and told him to go home, shower, grab my hospital bag, and meet me at the hospital! I got in the car shaking, still hungry but choose not to stop, and called my Mom who had Hunter at the time and told her! So many emotions! I got to St. Rose and walked in and got all admitted and waited for Jeff. And then for the next 13 hrs we stared at each other, just waiting! HA! Who knew being induced was such a process? I have never been induced before, so I thought they pop an IV in you, shoot some potossin in you and BAM! Here comes baby! Not the case....First, your cervix needs to be thinned which takes 12 hrs in itself. It was going to be a LONG night! So, the Rn is giving me the 1st round of meds and I say "is this really going to take 12 hrs?" She says yes, they wont even check me until around midnight unless my contractions are going really strong on the monitor. But, she does mention in passing that this 1st med can send some women into labor, but its rare...except for you know who! I never even got the potossin! This stuff sent me straight into labor! Around 12 a.m (still haven't slept or eaten thankyouverymuch!) I start not feeling right and the now night RN asks would I like some sleeping meds? YES! Please! Anything to finally get sleep! But, as it turns out, I never reap the benefits of this! Around 1 a.m. or so I start not feeling right and all the sudden all HELL breaks loose! Before I can even blink I am telling Jeff I don't feel right, that something is wrong and the RN is freaking out, telling me to turn this way and that every 5 seconds. Next thing I know I am vomiting all over the place, still telling Jeff I don't feel right. Then I look up and there are people EVERYWHERE! Doctor, nurses, surgery techs. Someone throws scrubs at Jeff telling him to be ready to put those on fast if they need to, I hear about an OR room being prepped, they are giving me meds to stop the contractions....whow! Crazy. Jeff is really freaking out and the Dr says to him "You don't look so good, maybe you should sit for a minute". He goes to argue no, but gets about 1/2 way through a shake of the head and then decides that sitting w/his head between his knees is the best option for now! HA! Poor Jeff! I am so freaked out but still too foggy brained to comprehend everything that I just look over at Jeff and give him a thumbs-up and then a thumbs-down....He looked at me with the brightest smile and best shrug and gave me a great big double thumbs-up! Such a good little liar! I totally believed him a relaxed! We still joke about that!
Turns out that the umbilical cord was wrapped around her head and her heart rate was plummeting really badly. So, when I would contract, it would cut off her air supply. In the end I ended up being able to push her out very quickly and deliver her safely before the c-section was preformed! Whew! Talk about a horrible labor! But, she is here and I am so blessed. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! I was up for over 24 hrs before I got some sleep and as any new mamma knows, I haven't had a good nights sleep since! LOL! I love you Allison Brenna! Happy Birthday!

Jeff and I BEFORE all the fun!

Allison Brenna minutes after being born!

Hunter and Allies first meeting!

I love this picture, because I am so DELIRIOUS from giving birth and it you can see it on my face!

Thrifting!

So today I went to 4 different thrift stores looking for buttons for my button swap that I am doing, but not really sure why! LOL! I think I just want to be part of some sort of crafty swap, but lack the sewing skills for anything besides this right now! So, I am in need of buttons and NO, I did not find any today! But, I did re-discover how cool the Goodwill and Savers are! Oh, and the Salvation Army too...I grabbed a pair of sunglasses at Salvation Army for .25 and then spent a whole $7.00 at the 1st goodwill on a frame and (of course) toys for the kids. I got two small doll houses for Allison and a car garage of some sort for Hunter, plus some super cute swimming stamps and a frame for this. Its pretty ugly now(the frame, not the print!), but will be cute when I am done! I grabbed another couple of pairs of shorts for Hunter and an "ALLIE-gator" shirt for Allie (get it??!!! LOL!) and a scooby-doo movie at the 2nd Goodwill for $4. And lastly I spent $7 at Savers on 2 Clifford the Big Red Dog books and a cute pair of capri pants for myself. All in all a good day "junk'in"!
Point of this blog? To remind myself that thrift stores rock and that I need to focus on buttons tomorrow, and not buy anything else! HA!

Finally! A good deal!

So, I was cruising the coupons tonight and saw some good deals from Target on one of the coupon sites I follow. So, I thought, I am going out to Target now and grabbing up these deals! So, off I went and here is what I got :
2 Kraft mac n cheese single serve cups: .27 ea
1 bottle of Kraft BBQ sauce: Free!
1 box of Rice Krispy cereal: .99
all for a grand total of: $1.52!!!! Yay me! I got the BBQ sauce for free, plus they owed me .01! I was really excited and even though some of the stuff wasnt priced as I thought it would be, I still got a good enough deal on the other things, that I have forgiven the mis-prints! LOL!
I think the most irritating thing about all of this, is that there are SOOOO many mis-prints! I am always being led to believe that I will be getting a better deal on stuff than I am...So far I still am NOT liking grocerysmarts.com and latley have been finding better deals at the coupon sites I follow. Hope everyone else is having good luck too!

My good deal!

Mothers Day

What a wonderful Mothers Day I had this year! It was everything I wanted and MORE! The hubby really came through to make sure I was appreciated! I asked him to make my gift "thoughtful". As in, dont just grab the first thing you see at the store, wrap it in the shopping bag and hand it to me...! So, at the early hour of 6:15 a.m. (Hunter couldnt wait to give me my gift!) The three of them woke me up in bed with gifts. As Hunter was ripping things out of the bag, he handed me a water bottle. Hmmm...I thought...that is random. Whatever. Then I looked again...I couldnt figure out why I had recieved a water bottle. Finally after about 5 min of me picking it up and looking at it Jeff finally said "I got you that because I notice that every time you leave the house you grab a huge cup if ice water, so I thought you could use this, that way you can carry it in places". Thoughtful, just as I had asked for! Its actually an awsome gift, something I needed but would have never bought for myself! Thanks Jeff :) I also got to have a great lunch with my mamma...so much fun! All in all a great day!

Cute handprint and bookmark I got from Hunter

What I am doing right now!

Making these adorable birthday invites for Allie's 1st birthday! I am glad I decided to do something (haven't I said that recently?!) These are super cute and well worth the time and effort!

Found this

I found this little scrap of paper the other day while I was looking for something and it stopped me in my tracks! It is the list I was witting while I was pregnant with Allison of possible baby names. I must have shoved it in a drawer after I had picked her name and stumbled on it the other day. I plan on keeping this for her for when she gets older...wont that be cool to be able to see the handwritten list of baby names your parents were contemplating for you? I think so!

Coupons, coupons, coupons...

Are you like everyone else I know? Have you been to the coupon party? Well, if you have then you will understand what I am talking about! I have to say, so far I am not so impressed with the coupon thing. I mean, I get it, its all about building your food storage and blah blah blah, and dont get me wrong there are some really, really, really good deals but mostly, its stuff I dont normally buy. Not because its been too expensive in the past, but because I dont feed my family a lot of the stuff I see. But, thats besides the point. The point I want to make is, is that I am a little irritated with this site...why am I not saving as much as I feel like I should be? I go through all the stores, I gather the coupons, and I get to the store and its not the same sale price??? What the HELL??? I just spent good, precious time doing this stuff and I am not getting the deals they say I should be! For example: tonight I went to Smiths where the sale was suppossed to be Colgate Adult or childrens toothpaste any 4.0 oz or larger .75/1 SS-4/26. Sale price is $2.00. Therefore, I should be paying $1.25/tube of toothpaste right? WRONG! When I got there the toothpaste was priced all over the damn place! I wanted the Colgate 2in1 Childrens toothpaste for Hunter (its the only stuff he will use and its usually 3.99) but, it was not on sale for $2.00. Close, $2.79 BUT, that means that I paid $2.04/tube instead of $1.25. I dont understand??? Plus, the regualr tp I bought was n sale for $1.50 with my .75 coupon so there I only paid .75 for that tube....
Other stuff is easy though: Brut deoderant on sale for .99 coupon for .55 = .44 for the Brut! Killer deal, prices matched.
I found the priced matched on only 3 out of the 5 items I tried to get. I didnt get a match on the Charmin toilet paper I wanted either. Grocery smarts said the 12 big rolls, were $4.98 but, it was really $8 and some change.
To give this thing the benifit of the doubt, I am a little new at it (thier thing, not coupons) so I will keep trying it out and see if I like it, but so far I have mixed feelings.
Tonights stats: (Toilet paper not pictured!)

I got all these things for $15.63 BUT, should have (or thought I was going to) get them for $14.58. Not that big of a deal, but the toilet paper was smaller and more expensive and the toothpaste wasnt priced right either. I guess what I am getting at is why is this like this and is anyone else having the same problems??? PLEASE!! Leave me your feedback! And happy clipping :)
