Bowling ball birthday cake!

Well, I think I have started the tradition of making Hunters b-day cakes without even knowing it! I have only purchased his 1st b-day cake, all the others I have made! For his 2nd b-day he got Lightening McQueen (made from Wilton mold) for his 3rd b-day he got cupcakes and sugar cookies (the cookies were in the #3 shape and spelled out Hunter) and for the 4th he got the bowling pin/ball birthday cake! I cant take complete credit, I found the cake from here. This cake was super easy and quite possibly the best one yet, in my opinion at least! All I did was first, search the web for a bowling pin template, enlarged it to around 150% at Kinkos, then traced it onto a baked, and cooled 9x13 in. cake. I also had a round cake that I cut a half moon shape out of and placed it next to the pin. Ta-daa!!! So simple! I made my life even easier by using canned icing for the entire cake (pin and ball) and just dyed it blue for the ball. I wrote Happy Birthday Hunter on it and added the finishing touches and it was finished in under an hour! I hope next year is as easy as this!
